A few minutes later, the bathroom door creaked open gently. Alerted by the sound, Aditi instinctively pulled the quilt higher, covering herself up to her nose, pretending to be asleep. She heard soft footsteps approaching, the faint rustle of fabric.
The bed dipped slightly on the other side, the mattress shifting under Veer's weight. Aditi’s heart raced unconsciously at the realization that he was lying beside her now. There was a sense of peace, of safety that settled over her like a second quilt.
